I am the grandmother of Tanya Egorova, 7 years old.
My granddaughter is now at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital in Moscow. She has
already spent half a year there. The doctors say that her illness is very rare and grave,
so rare that there are few cases of this illness throughout the world. She has already
had her surgery, but it has proved impossible to resect the tumor completely, and now
the doctors are trying to choose methods for her further treatment. Tanya is in very
grave condition; she mostly lies in bed and can seldom leave her ward. We hope
that she will recover, but we have no money to buy the necessary medications for her.
Only Tanya's father has got a job, but their company has personnel reduction
now, and he has been warned about future dismissal. Tanya's mother is presently at a maternity hospital,
because she has just given birth to another girl. I am disabled myself, but I stay with Tanya
at the hospital and cannot even get my disability pension. Please help us somehow!
Thank you very much!

The doctor's comment
Tanya Egorova, b. 2001, has been a patient
of the Department of Abdominal Surgery since June 19, 2008. Her main clinical
diagnosis is inflammatory pseudotumor of the liver (ALK-inactive). The girl
has had numerous surgeries. Now she is suffering from a septic process with
multiple infectious foci in the abdominal cavity and on the skin of the anterior abdominal
wall. The cultures show confluent growths
of Klebsiella pneumonia (ESBL strain)
and Ps. aeruginosa that are susceptible only to Colistin and Polymixin.
The girl's family needs help in purchase of Colistin, 100 vials. This amount of the
drug costs 50,000 roubles ($1785).
