We are a big family: five children. And we live in Yakutia, very far from Moscow. My son Alexei
had a very serious leg injury in 2004, at an age of 9. The doctors are trying to restore
the functioning of this leg. He has already had three operations in Yakutia, and then he
was directed to the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital in Moscow. Here his foot was shaped
right again. But a nerve has been damaged, and, to restore it, another operation using
advanced medical techniques is necessary. However, it costs 40,000 roubles ($1480). I am a simple
agricultural worker, and my wife's salary is also very low. This sum is unthinkable for us.
Please help our son if you can!

The doctor's comment
Patient Alexei
Fedotov is receiving treatment at the Department of Microvascular Surgery.
Diagnosis: damage of fibular nerve on the left, arteriovenous fistulae of left leg.
After a fall, the child had posttraumatic aneurysm of posterior tibial artery and
lesion of fibular nerve. The child has had numerous surgeries, but the nerve has not
been restored completely. As a result, the boy still has equinovarus deformation
of the foot, gait disorder, trophic and sensitivity abnormalities. To restore the
nerve and to improve the neuromuscular conduction, the child should undergo
surgical intervention using bioengineering technologies:
nerve revision, administation of a combination of neural growth factors.
