31.07.01 Dear friends!
We have some good news to share with you. Julia Bessonova, one of the first to appear on our site, has just entered the Moscow Teaching University to study Foreign Languages. What a change from the first time Julia's name appeared - when with your help we bought her a disabled person motor-chair which made quite a difference to Julia since she wasn't confined to her room any more. Julia worked really hard, attended preparatory courses and here is the first big breakthrough! We are sure there will be more ahead. Julia's energy, determination, intelligence and optimism will help her conquer anything. Well done, Julia! We wish you all the success in the future.
25.11.99 On the 24 th of November Yulia Bessonova finally got electrically operated wheel chair produced by the German company "Meyra" . Money for this wheel chair was collected back in summer time by our friend in America Elena and her friends, but wheel chairs to the store of " Meyra" company were delivered only recently. Most probably for patience and long waiting the company presented Julia and Traumotology Ward of the All Russia Children Hospital several other items.
7.08.99 Lena from America and her friends collected 2800 USD for
Yulya
Bessonova! We shall order a "Derby" wheelchair at the "Maira" company very
soon; we expect it to be delivered to Russia within 10 weeks. Yulya's
mother sends her heartfelt thanks to all who helped collect money. With the
wheelchair, Yulya, who spent her last 10 years lying, would be able to
learn, to live an active life - go out, to to theaters and museums, visit
her friends at the hospital.

Now, my daughter Yulya is 18 years old. When she was 7, her spinal column was injured severely, and she lost ability to move. For many years, Yulya worked hard and was doing various physical exercises to stand on her feet. But neither multiple surgeries nor physical exercises resulted in any improvement - the girl remained paralyzed. Now Yulen’ka makes every effort and uses all her resources to learn. When she was in her Homeland, Kazakhstan, Yulya studied with teachers at home. Later, in Moscow, she graduated from a junior high school with the Russian Clinical Children’s Hospital. Yulya is especially advanced in natural sciences, she dreams to get a college education and become an economist. The physicians say that Yulen’ka is a very talented and persistent girl. The Chief Physician of the department said that he never saw another kid like Yulya who could remain cheerful and benevolent after such a serious injury. Now, Yulya lives in the hospital and dreams of a motor-driven wheelchair. As long as she cannot move around freely, her dreams of learning remain just dreams.
Whether Yulya’s dream comes true depends on people’s kindness and response.
