I am the mother of Mikail Matsagov, a child with physical disabilities. He is 8 years old,
and he has been getting treatment at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital since birth.
At first it was neurosurgical treatment for spinal meningocele: several surgical operations.
Presently he is at the Department of Rehabilitation, and he needs ortheses to be able
to walk on his own. Two years ago you helped him with the previous ortheses, but
now he has grown out of them. And without them he is confined to a wheelchair, since
he cannot walk or stand up. So these ortheses are absolutely necessary for his normal
development. They cost about 70,000 roubles ($2260). This is quite a lot for our family.
Please help my son!
Yours respectfully,
Aina, Mikail's mother
The doctor's comment
Mikail Matsagov, born Nov 2, 2001, needs a Dospekhi
(Armor) orthopedic system with fixation of ankle, hip, and knee joints, fixation of spinal column.
The system is necessary in order to continue the patient's rehabilitation, intensify loading of legs,
and teach him the right standing and walking stereotype. Earlier use of the orthopedic system
has lead to marked improvement, and now a new system is vitally important for the boy.

In 2008:
I am Aina Matsagova, the mother of a boy named Mikail. We have three
small children, and my husband is disabled. My son Mikail has a serious
congenital disorder: spinal hernia. He has been receiving treatment
and surgeries at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital since birth.
Now, to have a more or less normal life, he needs an orthesis. It
costs about 50,000 roubles (approximately $2000), but this sum
is just incredible for our family. Please help us!
