26.5.01 Dear friends
Kostya Mitko is feeling better now - he already goes for walks and his blood test results seem reasonable, apart from thrombocyte which are still a bit low so Kostya has to have blood transmissions every other day. The doctors are planning to release Kostya from his current ward and move him into a hospital sanatorium where he would continue to recover. We are very grateful to our new friends from Province, in the south of France. Lorance is a mother of three and she organised a group which gathers to pray for the children from our hospital. She wrote in one of her letters that when Kostya felt particularly poorly and he suffered badly, she prayed for him as of he was her own son. We admire her kindness, compassion and energy. Lorance and her friends are going to help Kostya's mum in buying all the necessary post-operation medicine. We are grateful to Lorance and her group, as well as all the others who helped to provide all the necessary medicine, who prayed for Kostya's health and helped him.
God bless you.

Kostya Mitko needs your help again. This summer Kostya was released from hospital while he was in remission. He was absolutely fine all this time - he entered a college, took up some sports and went mountain skiing. There were no signs of things to come. Six months after his release, Kostya came to the hospital for a routine check-up. A punction tests revealed that leukemia came back. Kostya is understandably shocked and his mum cannot stop crying. The only thing that can save Kostya's life now is a marrow transplant operation, and luckily Kostya's brother tests showed he could be a donor. While in remission, Kostya has put on quite a lot of weight and now weighs some 80 kg. Therefore he would need quite a lot of medicine for his operation - an estimated cost of US $20,000. Please do help Kostya in this terrible time - only you can save his life!

7.02.01 Dear Friends,
Kostya Mitko needs your help again! Last summer Kostya was released from the hospital when his cancer when into complete remission. This entire time he has been feeling very well, he was accepted into college, played sports and went skiing. It seemed as if nothing could stand in his way. After six months Kostya returned to the PDKB for checkup. A spinal tap was performed and the results showed that the leukemia had returned. Kostya was in shock and his mother has constantly cried. The only way to save Kostya this time is with a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, Kostya's younger brother is able to be the donor. Kostya has gained a good deal of weight during the remission and now weights 80 kg. For this reason he now needs more medicine than before, the cost will be at least $20,000. We ask that you please help Kostya and now leave it to fate. Please help him to overcome this.

7.03.00 Kostya Milko had a few cources of chemotherapy. He responded to treatment and is in remission. He needs one more cource of chemotherapy before he can go home. Because his health is improving, his parents decided against a bone marrow transplant for now, but in case the disease comes back, there will be no counterindications to an auto-transplant.

14.02.00 Kostya Mitko responded very well to his chemotherapy treatment. This is why, taking into consideration the type of his leikosis he has (M2), it has been decided to treat him with one more intensive course of chemotherapy. If stable remission is reached, a bone marrow transplantation will not be necessary.
Now, his analyses are much lower than normal, he is in a state of aplasia. This is why he needs antibiotics and antifungus medicine. From the money donated to Kostya 50 bottles of antibiotic Fortrum for $275 and four boxes of Orungal were bought.

10.02.00 1,000 roubles from Sergey were transferred to the mother of Kostya Mitko.

1.02.00 Dimitriy donated $1,000 for Kostya Mitko.

Kostya Mitko My son, Kostya is 16 years old and is sick with myeloblastic leukemia. In order to save his live Kostya needs and autogenic bone marrow transplant. Our family is not able to come up with the $15000 needed to purchase the medicine needed for the operation. We live in the city of Novokuznetsk and for six months now have not received our salary. I am asking all people who have any means at all to please help my son! When my son became ill I began to write this poem:

Much like me feeling unhappy and all alone,
As the heart grows more silent without even a groan.
I want to scream from a mountain as loud as I can,
That my son's life has the worth of any other man.

Whenever I look into the eyes of my beloved son,
I want to ask questions about what is yet to come.
Why must we suffer this and why is this our fate?
Why must my heart and my soul so constantly ache?

He is still just a child, a baby in my eyes,
While he has grown to become almost my size.
I hope in my heart that God will not let him miss,
the feeling of true love and the touch of a kiss.

He has bravely endured more than most could take,
Through God's test of faith still his resolve did not break.
He is a smart boy , good and a pleasure to know,
Yet no one has saved him and helped him to grow.

He needs you, he needs all people who care,
He himself is filled with kindness with plenty to spare.
He shows this without ever thinking of the pain,
Please don't let my tears for my child go in vain.

I would like to thank all who are with us as we overcome our obstacles and who help us.

Elena Mitko, Kostya's Mother
