26.10.2009 In view of the
serious situation that is due to interruption of budgetary supplies of some medications, Deputy Head
Physician of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital A.A. Bologov and Head of the Department of Kidney
Transplantation A.L. Valov are asking our foundation for urgent aid in fundraising for purchase
of immunosuppressive and antiviral drugs that are required for patients in the early period
after kidney transplantation: CellCept, Valcyte (valganciclovir), and Viferon (human recombinant interferon).
Presently these drugs are vitally necessary for five patients of the Department of Kidney Transplantation: Katya
Avtushko (12 years old), Tanya Karpova (16 years old), Dima Kupriyanov (17 years old),
Nastya Kurynina (12 years old), Pavel Shevtsov (16 years old),
and Artem Shemetulskii (14 years old).
The total cost of these drugs for each child is about 200,000 roubles on average, which means
over 1,000,000 roubles (approx. $34,500) for all six children.
