I am the grandmother of a boy from Tatarstan, a distant republic in the Volga region. We will in the small town of Almetyevsk. My daughter Svetlana has encountered terrible grief. Her son and my grandson, a boy of 13, is gravely ill. During a routine medical examination, the doctors wrongly diagnosed his condition and prescribed him group B vitamins. He became all swollen and had bruises all over his body. Then another (and again wrong!) diagnosis was suggested in the Republican Hospital in Kazan: hemorrhagic syndrome. Prednisolon was prescribed, and after this Anton felt just awful. He was all covered with huge hematomas.

After many ordeals, the child was taken to Moscow. And it was only there that we learned the correct and terrible diagnosis: myelomonocytic leukemia. The worst thing is that he, in his condition and with his diagnosis, can receive due treatment only in Germany. We have even received the account, but we'll never have the required sum. The boy's father has a monthly salary of about $250, and his mother hasn't got a job now, because Anton's sister is still a very small kid. We asked our friends and acquaintances for help, but we have managed to raise enough money only for staying in Moscow during the treatment. And treatment in Germany requires 150,000 euro and also 15-20 thousand euro in addition for finding a donor. We wrote letters to several official persons, but they replied that they were busy with social programs, not with treatment of this or that individual.

My grandson is feeling extremely poor. He receives platelet tranfusions each day, but each time it turns out that a day later he has got no platelets at all. He has bruises and bone pains. His mother is in such despair that her hair has all turned gray. His father had a heart attack after the boy was taken to hospital. I also feel horror and despair when I think that we can lose the boy. Only because we honestly worked all our lives but didn't earn enough for treatment of such diseases.

We had waited for Anton's birth for a very long time, because the doctors had considered my daughter infertile. After his birth, he received all our love and attention. He studied acting, dancing, figure skating, played football and basketball. He is keenly interested in everything around him. He is very bright in schooling and has got an outstanding memory. I pray day and night and hope that a compassionate and rich person will read about Anton and decide to help him. I am sure that God will bless this person.
