5.08.2009 We have completed the fundraising for the benefit of Olga
Shchekina. Olya and her mother have already left for Germany. We thank all who have responded.
News-2007
17.10.2007 Olya Shchekina and her
mother returned from the Munich clinic on October 14. After a thorough
examination, the German physicians decided that surgery is not
appropriate now in Olya's case.

Tatiana Kotelnikova, mother of Olga Shchekina,
is asking for your and our help again. The child underwent intensive
chemotherapy at the Department of Oncohematology-16 from February to
September 2007 and still regularly arrives there for check-ups.
Olga has grown up a lot and now has long and beautiful hair.
She is already in her tenth school year and receives only good
and excellent grades. She is a fan of reading and embroidering.
In 2007-2008, you helped Olga undergo a medical examination
at a clinic in Munich. Now the girl and her mother must go
to Germany for the third time. The money for the examination
is available (the remaining part of the sum previously raised),
but the family has no money to pay for the flight tickets:
a total of 40,000 roubles (about $1300). Olga's relatives have
exhausted all their resources during the struggle with the
girl's disease, and now they have no such sum. It would be
wonderful if you could help Olga once more!

My name is Tatiana Kotelnikova. My daughter Olya Shchekina has
a terrible diagnosis: retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma. Presently she
is at the Department of Oncohematology-16, but the physicians recommended
that we continue our treatment in Germany, in Munich. The required sum
was 15,000 euro. I took all my small savings and borrowed money
from all our relatives and friends. But, after I sent this sum to the
account of the Munich clinic and received a visa, it turned out that this sum
covers only treatment but not tickets and lodging. I cannot raise any more money.
We should arrive in Munich in the beginning of September. Very little
time is left, and I have to ask for your help. We need 2000 euro
to pay for the tickets and for our stay in Munich.

The doctor's comment
Olga Shchekina, born April 20, 1994, has been a patient
of the Department of Oncohematology and Chemotherapy since
February 21, 2007. Her diagnosis is retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma.
The child is receiving intensive chemotherapy aimed at maximum
reduction of the tumor, which was initially regarded as
nonresectable. Presently it has become possible to perform
such a surgery at the Munich University Clinic.
