20.09.2002 We have received a letter from Nastya Tyurina's
mother.
Dear kind and compassionate people!
I am addressing everybody who did not stay indifferent
to my plea when I asked to help Nastya Tyurina,
my daughter. Nastya really needs to move
by herself, and only a orthesis can help her.
Buying a good orthesis was impossible for us.
Many thanks to the people who helped my daughter
and me fulfil this dream. Now she can walk
like a normal person. Nastya and I, her mother,
thank you very much for your help and
attention to our destiny. It is so wonderful
that you have such compassionate and kind hearts!
Marina Alexandrovna Tyurina.
16.06.2002 Christine Franke paid 60 000
roubles to buy ortheses for Nastya Tyurina.
28.05.2002 Galina transferred 9,384 roubles for
Nastya Tyurina via the online credit card system.

Dear friends,
I am the mother of Nastya Tyurina. My daughter has a grave
congenital pathology of her left leg. She has had to
undergo constant surgical operations since she was five: 12 serious
operations and several less serious. Now Nastya is 16,
and there hasn't been a single year completely out of
hospital. But, in spite of all the operations, this leg
is 15 cm shorter and does not bend in the knee. She has
to walk on crutches but still falls down because of the
distortion of the leg axis. Because of these numerous
operations, Nastya has developed several other diseases,
including heart problems. So no more operations are
possible for her. The only thing that will
help her walk is a good prosthesis.
The doctors selected such a prosthesis for us, but is
costs 75580 roubles (ca. 2500 USD). I cannot earn
such a sum, because I have two children and bring them
up alone. My husband and I are divorced, and his
financial support is scarce. All my close relatives are
dead, and there is nobody to help us. I am eager to
help my child, but my salary (I work at a state-owned
enterprise) is insufficient. So I have to ask all the
kind people: please help my daughter so that she could walk!
Many thanks to everybody who has read this story.
Yours respectfully,
Marina Alexandrovna Tyurina,
Moscow region
